G4S Youth Services, LLC provides governments with safe, secure, and effective programs that address the needs of delinquent and troubled youth. Under the direction of the Assistant Facility Administrator of operations, oversees the supervision of the custody workforce; responsible for insuring the care, custody, and discipline of juveniles; does related work as required. Is on 24-hour call to respond to emergencies.
Role Responsibility:
Is responsible for all operations activities on a shift, including monitoring master schedules. Serves as the Duty officer when assigned. Coordinates transportation in the absence of the Intake/Transport Supervisor or transportation coordinator, including emergency transportation in the event of an injury, etc. Organizes supervisory custodial work and develops effective work procedures. Manages the overall operations of assigned staff and briefing of same regarding the proper performance of essential facility routines. Participates in Youth Care Worker evaluations, discipline and terminations. Participates on interview panel for Youth Care Workers and makes hiring recommendations. For the shift, assists the preparation of schedules for Youth Care Workers; the assignment of YCW's to stations and shifts, the scheduling of overtime as required; and vacation scheduling recommendations. Insures the observance of laws and regulations by juveniles, Youth Care Workers, civilian employees, and visitors. Assists in overseeing investigations of the facts when complaints are made by staff members or juveniles and recommends remedial measures. Notes suspicious persons and behavior and takes action; notes, and reports significant conditions constituting hazards, and takes the steps necessary to insure safe and orderly conditions. Insures the proper supervision of juveniles and helps maintain order. Reviews pertinent information regarding facility security; initiates appropriate action. Supervises the disbursement of and where necessary obtains and distributes needed equipment and materials. Gives instruction in facility methods. Insures that Facility ratios are filled in conformance with required staff to youth ratios. Reviews violation reports and recommends as needed. Cooperates with members of the treatment staff in developing, supporting, and maintaining facility programs and services. Supervises the overall safety & Security operations and/or functional programs and has responsibility for providing information for employee evaluations and for effectively recommending the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, and/or disciplining of employees. Directs and participates in escape apprehension activities. Supervises all population counts. Supervises and directs responses to emergency situations. Performs inspections and files reports of findings as directed. Assists in the facility's training program, to include training in custody policy and procedures; use of special force equipment; effectively providing for the care, custody, and security of the population. Prepares reports; maintains the essential records and files. Maintains and updates all policies, procedures, directives, and post orders. May be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
The Ideal Candidate:
Education, Licenses and Certifications Required High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Type and Length of Specific Experience Required Five (5) years of experience in the care and custody of juveniles in a correctional facility, two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
Skills Required Knowledge of the laws, rules and administrative plan standards of a correctional facility. Knowledge of the procedures used in maintaining proper conduct among staff, juveniles and visitors. Knowledge of the methods used in supervising the custody, rehabilitation, protection, housing, feeding, work, discipline of juveniles to assist them toward social rehabilitation. Knowledge of the principles of criminal justice and their application to juvenile custody and correction. Ability to organize work and develop work methods to assist youth in meeting their performance goals. Ability to give instructions to those engaged in custodial work and supervise their work. Ability to direct and participate in escape apprehension activities and other emergency situation response requirements. Ability to perform repetitive work without loss of equanimity, patience, or courtesy, to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations, and to retain emotional stability. Ability to work effectively with others and maintain positive professional relationships with all supervisory and line staff. Ability to investigate complaints and prepare recommendations for remedial measures. Ability to note potential dangers and hazards and to take steps to insure orderly and safe conditions. Ability to supervise the proper use of equipment and materials and supplies. Ability to prepare reports. Ability to supervise the maintenance of records and files. Ability to work with a variety of behaviors. Ability to tolerate verbal and mental abuse while maintaining a professional demeanor. Ability to perform appropriate crisis intervention involving student behavior, including physically breaking up fights in the classroom. Ability to complete pre-service and annual in-service CPR and first aid certification training and self-defense and physical intervention training. Ability to pass drug and TB screening and testing. Ability to work under pressure; meet inflexible deadlines; set priorities; deal diplomatically with difficult individuals; and supervise others; ability to manage multiple programs; lead management teams and work independently. Adherence to the highest ethical standards essential. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. Knowledge of procedures used to distribute oral medications as designated by the Health Care Services staff. Ability to maintain essential records, reports, and files. Work environment may involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, dangerous machinery, chemicals, body fluids, falling objects, and aggressive verbal and physical behavior from students, and weather and temperature extremes.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
